CARDINAL BAGNASCO DENIES JESUS AND THE CHURCH

BAGNASCO DENIES JESUS AND THE CHURCH

Accepts Jewish concept of history

Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, President of the Italian Conference of Catholic Bishops (Cei) is selling a new doctrine in the Catholic Church.Avvenire reported (23.0.2009) that the Italian Conference of Catholic Bishops has decided to accept Vatican Council II as the Jewish Left interprets it and to give up active efforts for the conversion of Jews. The Cardinal gives in to a long campaign by the Jewish Left lobby in Italy. They wanted Catholics to accept that Jews are saved without Jesus and that Jesus was not the Promised Messiah of the Jews.

The accommodating Cardinals and bishops have come to this radical-non Christian teaching since 2007. It was then that an ultimatum by the Jewish Anti Defamation League (ADL) and its allies was given. Cardinal Walter Kaspar, Prefect, Council for Christian Unity and  for  rapport with the Jews began the process of change with a front page article in the L’Osservatore Romano. Cardinal T. Bertone, Vatican Secretary of State presented this article to the Chief Rabbi of Israel.

ADL cited Cardinals Bertone and Kasper’s article to the Chief Rabbi.ADL  reported on its website that the Catholic Church has chosen to live at ‘peace’ with the Jews.

The article said that Jews do not have to convert for salvation. It said that the Revised Good Friday Prayer referred to a mass conversion of Jews in the end times in the future, whenever that would be. The ADL website said that the Revised Prayer would no more be called the Prayer for the Conversion of the Jews but as the Prayer for the Jews.

The Chief Rabbi who has the support of Israel, the U.S.A and their allies in Europe accepted the ‘surrender ' of doctrine by the Catholic Church. It was also major progress for the Freemason Society and their agenda for the Catholic Church and the world.

Catholic priests protested.
There was no comment from Cardinal William Levada, Prefect, Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Cardinal Walter Kaspar had accepted in his L’Osservatore Romano report that Lumen Gentium 16 is the ordinary way of salvation for Jews.

‘…Those also can attain to salvation who through no fault of their own do not know the Gospel of Christ or His Church, yet sincerely seek God and moved by grace strive by their deeds to do His will as it is known to them through the dictates of conscience…’-Lumen Gentium 16,Vatican Council II

Ad Gentes 7 saying that all Jews need to convert with Catholic Faith and the Baptism of water was irrelevant.

‘ ..Therefore, all must be converted to Him, made known by the Church's preaching, and all must be incorporated into Him by baptism and into the Church which is His body. For Christ Himself "by stressing in express language the necessity of faith and baptism (cf. Mark 16:16; John 3:5), at the same time confirmed the necessity of the Church, into which men enter by baptism, as by a door. Therefore those men cannot be saved, who though aware that God, through Jesus Christ founded the Church as something necessary, still do not wish to enter into it, or to persevere in it."…-Ad Gentes 7, Vatican Council II (Emphasis added)
Jews could continue to believe that they were saved by Yahweh and the two cardinals would accept that present- day Jews are saved implicitly and in general by Jesus. So the Baptism of water and Catholic Faith is not a necessity in general for the salvation of the Jews according to Cardinals Kaspar, Bertone and Bagnasco.

With no public opposition from the Vatican Curia, cardinals and bishops a major theological change was made. It would have its affect on our understanding of moral theology (mortal sin), faith (accepting a first class heresy as not a mortal sin), ecclesiology (the Church would be only an organization and not the Mystical Body Jesus), eschatology (objective reality for going to Hell and avoiding it has been changed).

Cardinal Bagnasco would then say that those who reject the six million figure of the Jews who were killed in the concentration camps, could not be accepted in the Catholic Church. Rabbi Segni thanked him for this message with reference to the SSPX and Bishop Richard Williamson.

The Press Office of the Vatican which had said that a Catholic was free to have an opinion on this subject would give in within two weeks. Denying the six million figure,it was accepted by Cardinal Bertone, could be showing hatred for the Jews.

No one said that the anti Semitism law is a proselytism law (forced conversion). People are being put into prison for the wrong ‘thought’ and they are forced to recant.

To criticize the creators of this international law, ADL etc is also considered anti-Semitic.

It has been ADL which has been criticizing the Catholic Church teaching on Mission. No cardinal has said that this is ‘hatred’ against the Catholic Church.

The Jewish Left has been indicating that Catholic doctrine is inferior and inadequate and so they have the right to change it and the Catholic religion. This is ‘racism’ according to the standards of the Jewish Left itself.

From the Catholic perspective this is a denying of Jesus as the only and unique Saviour and a denying of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus.

Affirming the teaching outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation is obligatory for all Catholics as is our belief in the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Both are ex cathedra, infallible teachings.

Pope John Paul II has said that Judaism is not a path to salvation and Jews need to be oriented into the Catholic Church (Notification, CDF, Fr.Dupuis, 2001 by Cardinal Ratzinger).Even though Jesus died for all people, they need to respond for this salvation by entering the Church His Mystical Body (Dominus Iesus 21).Cardinal Bagnasco, Bertone and Kaspar are refuting the teachings of Pope John Paul II.

The message to Catholics is that even though there are fixed natural laws on earth (gravity, buoyancy) there is no fixed objective reality at the supernatural level.

The Jews do not have a centralized authority like the Catholics. The Jewish Left has been criticized by Rabbis who say that they are not offended if Catholics seek conversion . Since Jews pray for the conversion of others and also seek their conversion.

Cardinal Bagnasco’s statement is a setback to ecumenism with the Orthodox Churches. They still have the original understanding of extra ecclesiam nulla salus i.e de facto everyone needs to enter the Church with no exceptions.

Now, among those things which the Church has always preached and will never cease to preach is contained also that infallible statement by which we are taught that there is no salvation outside the Church.

However, this dogma must be understood in that sense in which the Church herself understands it. For, it was not to private judgments that Our Savior gave for explanation those things that are contained in the deposit of faith, but to the teaching authority of the Church.

Now, in the first place, the Church teaches that in this matter there is question of a most strict command of Jesus Christ. For He explicitly enjoined on His apostles to teach all nations to observe all things whatsoever He Himself had commanded (Matt. 28: 19-20).- Letter of the Holy Office 1949 to the Archbishop of Boston relative to Fr.Leonard Feeney.(Emphasis added)

The Church Councils, popes and saints interpreted the dogma as : De facto all people need to enter the Catholic Church for salvation and there are no exceptions. However in principle (de jure) there can be exceptions (invincible ignorance etc) known only to God. This was an ex cathedra, infallible teaching of the Council of Florence which is an obligatory Catholic teaching for all popes, cardinals, bishops, religious and laity to follow. It was repeated by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Vatican in the 1949 Letter with reference to the Jews in Boston.

There is no intention to convert Jews says President of Italian Conference of Catholic Bishops

Italian Bishops Conference communiqué

There is no intention to convert Jews

There is no intention to actively try to convert Jews said Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, President of the Italian Catholic Bishops Conference (CEI). In a communiqué issued after his meeting with Jewish- Left Rabbis the CEI daily Avvenire reported (23.09.2009).

The Rabbis who had ended ‘dialogue’ with the Vatican after the Revised Good Friday Prayer for the conversion of the Jews announced relations are now normal after the CEI communiqué on the change in Church policy towards the conversion of the Jews.

There will be the Jewish-Catholic day of Reflection in January 2010 said Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, on Sept.23 after a meeting with Rabbi Giuseppe Laras, president of the Italian Rabbinic Assembly, and Ricardo Di Segni, chief rabbi of Rome.

Cardinal Bagnasco said that there was no change in the attitude that the Catholic Church has developed toward the Jews, especially since Vatican Council II."

The Avvenire report is available on the internet (' Gironata ebraico-cristiana riprende la celebrazione commune Bagnasco ai rabbinic Laras e Di Segni : diamo nuovo slancio al dialogo di Lorenzo Rosoli p.8,Chiesa).

Rabbi Segni according to Avvenire has called for vigilance against any signs of anti Semitism and a rejection of Vatican Council II, especially Nostra Aetate.

Their meeting was also attended by Bishop Vincenzo Paglia, President of the CEI Commission for Ecumenism and Inter Religious Dialogue.

The report said that Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Vatican Secretary of State had clearly expressed the sentiments of the Holy Father to the Rabbinate of Israel after the Revised Prayer for the Conversion of the Jews was announced.

After the CEI communiqué emphasized that there was no intention to actively convert Jews the Rabbinical Assembly decided to normalize relations which were broken in 2007. It was also noted that the prayer referred to the conversion of the Jews in the eschatological time in the future and not now.
