CANTATE DOMINO IS OFFICAL TEACHING OF THE CHURCH TODAY: NO ONE REFUTES IT IN ARCHDIOCESE OF SYDNEY

The ‘rigorist interpretation’ of extra ecclesiam nulla salus re-emerges in the country of Mary McKillop

“The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church.” (Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441.) Ex cathedra (Emphasis added)

Numerous e-mails have been sent into the Archdiocese of Sydney. Some 90% of the diocese has been covered. No one is able to provide Magisterial texts, from Vatican Council II to other Church Documents, to contradict the ex cathedra teaching of the Council of Florence, Cantate Domino-not even the Jesuits, Dominicans or Marist Fathers in Sydney.

Fr. John George on his blog True Catholic has not been able to answer the three questions of the last post i.e. if this issue was taken before a secular court in Sydney, how could Fr. John George provide

1) Magisterial texts which show that the Catholic Church has retracted extra ecclesiam nulla salus.
2) Magisterial documents which indicate that Cantate Domino has been changed as he suggests.
3) We can know personally, and do know, cases of non Catholics saved with the baptism of desire or invincible ignorance.

Other priests, religious and lay persons in the archdiocese remain silent and observe the developments.

Catholics are seeing through the false arguments used all these years by the secular liberal media, with the support of liberal Catholics, to hide the truth about Cantate Domino.

We now know that Cantate Domino is an ex cathedra dogma. Wikipedia and EWTN hid this  knowledge.

We realize that Lumen Gentium 16, Vatican Council II on invincible ignorance can refer to only implicit invincible ignorance. It can only be explicit for God.So it does not contradict the text  of Cantate Domino.

There can be no explicit baptism of desire (BOD) known to us, also there is no Church Document which refers to ‘explicit’ baptism of desire. For us BOD is always a probability, a possibility, it can be there in reality or not be there today or over the last 100 years. It can never be explicit so why suggest all these years that it can contradict Cantate Domino?

De facto every non Catholic needs to enter the Church to avoid Hell (Dominus Iesus 20, CCC 845, 846, CDF, Notification on Fr. Jacques Dupuis S.J  2001 etc). De jure, in principle and known only to God, ‘in certain circumstances’ (Letter of the Holy Office 1949) a person can be saved. Whether there explicitly does exist such a case in the present times, we don’t know.

So in the Letter of the Holy Office 1949 to the Archbishop of Boston Pope Pius XII was saying every Jew in Boston needed to convert into the Catholic Church to avoid Hell. He referred to ‘the dogma’, 'outside the church there is no salvation'. Here it is:

Pope Pius XII was repeating the centuries old teaching of the Catholic Church. The dogma does not say:
1. “There is but one universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved.” (Pope Innocent III, Fourth Lateran Council, 1215). Ex cathedra.

2.“We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.” (Pope Boniface VIII, the Bull Unam Sanctam, 1302.).Ex cathedra.

3.“The most Holy Roman Church firmly believes, professes and preaches that none of those existing outside the Catholic Church, not only pagans, but also Jews and heretics and schismatics, can have a share in life eternal; but that they will go into the eternal fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels, unless before death they are joined with Her; and that so important is the unity of this ecclesiastical body that only those remaining within this unity can profit by the sacraments of the Church unto salvation, and they alone can receive an eternal recompense for their fasts, their almsgivings, their other works of Christian piety and the duties of a Christian soldier. No one, let his almsgiving be as great as it may, no one, even if he pour out his blood for the Name of Christ, can be saved, unless he remain within the bosom and the unity of the Catholic Church.” (Pope Eugene IV, the Bull Cantate Domino, 1441.) Ex cathedra – from the website Catholicism.org and “No Salvation outside the Church”: Link List, the Three Dogmatic Statements Regarding EENS

1) Only those who know about the Church and do not enter are oriented to Hell.
2) Those with the baptism of desire, a good conscience or in invincible ignorance do not have to convert into the Church.

Either way (1and 2) we don’t know any of these cases. Only God can decide them. So why mention then as an exception to Cantate Domino?

Since no one can contradict Cante Domino with ‘church texts’ what the Archdiocese is saying (reluctantly?) is that Feeneyism is the official teaching of the Holy Roman Catholic Church today.

Fr. Leonard Feeney held the rigorist interpretation of  extra eccleisam nulla salus, as expressed in the text of Cantate Domino.

He said everyone needs Catholic Faith and the baptism of water (Ad Gentes ,Vatican Council II ) and there were no exceptions.

He held that there was no explicit or implicit baptism of desire that we can know of. However there was a possibility of persons being saved with the conditions of the baptism of desire (longing, charity) which would culminate with the baptism of water and be known to God only. So even a person could be saved who was not a visible (to us) member of the Catholic Church, however when in Heaven he would be a Catholic. There are only Catholics in Heaven. People of different nations, cultures, religions etc.

While the secular media has maintained a consistent hate and disinformation campaign against him the Catholic Church has been silently recognizing his communities, who follow the official teaching of the Catholic Church, expressed in Canate Domino.
